As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the District’s summer school will take place virtually. Students will receive learning packets each week via their bus driver. Assignments in learning packets will also be made available on Google Classroom. This way, students have the option to either complete their assignments digitally or via paper and pen in their packets.
Google Classroom is a free web service that allows teachers to post reminders to students, create assignments, and grade. Students are placed into virtual classrooms within Google Classroom, according to subject. They can view their grades, submit assignments, and ask their teacher questions.
As a District, we are all new to Google Classroom. Teachers across the District have been trained to use Classroom, but perhaps even more imperative to student success in virtual learning is parents and students knowing how to use the service. To ensure students know how to login to Google Classroom, view and submit assignments, communicate with their teachers, and check grades, Mr. Hamidy has created a training video for students and parents, linked below. Please watch the video in full to gain a complete understanding of Classroom. It will pay off and contribute to a smooth transition to online learning.
